The Wound won this year’s Jury Award for best film. South African director John Trengove, who attended the festival’s first few days, was happy to receive this price. The award comes with 5000 euro fee for a future film project. Trengove sent the festival attendees a video message as a reaction to the good news.
The Audience Award went to Frontières, a film from Burkina Faso. Director Apolline Traoré was present at the festival in the capacity of Jury member. The audience rewarded her film with 9 out of 10 points.
The Jury, three female filmmakers, acknowledged the diversity and fight for human rights in every competition film. They made a Special Mention to praise Bar Bahar, a Palestinian film by Maysaloun Hamoud. `The way she depicted the daily struggles that women face in the middle east deserved an extra mention.`
