World Cinema Amsterdam films at the theatre

In case you missed them during the festival

Didn't get the chance to see all films during the festival? No worries! Several WCA films can now and soon be seen at the Dutch film theatres.

Now and soon

The Man Who Sold His Skin is coming to Rialto in October. The film, directed by Tunisian Kaouther Ben Hania, celebrated its special pre-premiere during World Cinema Amsterdam 2021 and won the World Cinema Amsterdam Exchange Award. This prize is for the film that manages to stimulate the viewer to start a conversation about essential human issues.

The Man Who Sold His Skin is a satire on the elite art world and at the same time an indictment of the apathy with which the West treats refugees. Nominated for an Oscar for best foreign film.

You also have the chance to see the absurdist drama El perro que no calla, by the Argentine director Ana Katz. This film, which won the VPRO Big Screen Award during IFFR 2021, is about the search for meaning in a world characterized by an overwhelming disorder. The documentary Radiograph of a Family can also still be seen. This intimate family portrait by filmmaker Firouzeh Khosrovani issymbol for the current state of affairs in Iran, a country where the opposition secular vs. seems religiously irreconcilable.

We are also looking forward to The Last Days of Gilda, Ballad of a White Cow and Canción sin nombre! In short, plenty to see in the near future.
