We are very happy and excited that Oxville Cinema in De Vlugt will join World Cinema Amsterdam as festival location this year. With several interesting programme elements, Oxville Cinema will be a very present and welcome addition to WCA 2022.
Community cinema
Oxville Cinema is building a (film) house where New West meets through the experience of film. For the residents, by the residents. In other words: community cinema. This young film house, which is located at a stone's throw from Plein '40-'45, has a clear mission and vision: to profile itself as the film house for the largest district of Amsterdam: New-West.
They work from within the community and involve it in their programming and activities. For example, the cinema is in close contact with the neighbourhood through intensive cooperation with local community centres and other local institutions in order to realise a tailor-made film offer. A sustainable film education programme for the youngest inhabitants of the district is also an important pillar in Oxville's offer.
