For five years now, World Cinema Amsterdam, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been supporting Cuban film talent in the Go Cuba! Project, and that has already produced many great films. Another one has been added.
In 2016, the Go Cuba! team received a request from director Armando Capó, who was looking for the means to realize his film plan for Agosto, in which Capó links the events in the turbulent year 1994 to a coming-of-age story. Go Cuba! honored his application and now, three years later, Capó has finished his film, partly thanks to Go Cuba!. Coming Tuesday (September 10) Agosto will have its world premiere at the renowned Toronto film festival.
Next year, Agosto can be seen at WCA.
