From 15 to 24 August we will be celebrating the 10th edition of World Cinema Amsterdam, the film festival that has been presenting the best films from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean for a decade now.
The anniversary edition will take place at Rialto and De Balie, with open-air screenings at various locations as early as 7 August.
Apart from nine international competition films, the festival will include Cinema Indonesia, focussing on independent Indonesian Cinema, and World Cinema Amsterdam Presents, a completely new feature this year with films by Dutch makers who have roots in Africa, Asia, Latin America or the Caribbean. As a first, this year's festival will also showcase several family films.
WCA will not let the ten-year anniversary go unnoticed. In addition to the new programme features, you can look forward to lavish parties, a new award, and a lot of visiting filmmakers.
Of course, World Cinema Open Air is also part of WCA: from Wednesday 7 August four sparkling films will screen at various outdoor locations: among others on Marie Heinekenplein, in the Vondelpark Open Air Theater and after the festival as part of the VU On the Roof Film Festival.
If you’re excited about the tenth edition, subscribe to our newsletter via this link or visit Rialto to view similar films.
