This year, De Balie is once again one of World Cinema Amsterdam's venues. Much of the programme can be seen here.
About De Balie
Housed in a 19th-century courthouse, this Dutch organisation has been programming independent programmes on art, culture and politics since 1982. This theatre complex and meeting place is the place to be for everyone looking for high-profile debates, theatre, talk shows, films or art projects from early to late.
Why at WCA?
De Balie stands for connection and, just like World Cinema Amsterdam, the meeting and free exchange of ideas are central. By providing a platform for new, talented, non-Western and bi-cultural filmmakers, we believe that cinema is an excellent way to bring audiences to empathy, introspection and new insights.
Accessibility
De Balie has good facilities for disabled visitors. The main entrance of the building has a disabled lift. All rooms are also accessible with stair lifts and there is a toilet for the disabled.
